Selfless Leaders Duterte And Lee Kuan Yew Made Impossible Things into Possible
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Singapore founder Lee Kuan Yew are both iron fist leaders. In one of the past interviews of the late Lee Kuan Yew, he was very strict against illegal drugs, criminality and corruption. The Singapore Prime Minister executed drug traffickers and turned his country from a third world to a first country in the world.
Duterte’s critics said that Duterte is extremely different from Lee Kuan Yew as they labeled the Philippine President as an executioner of the masses, but, why is he doing this for the Filipinos?
In a blog post of Mr. Alon Calinao Dy, he said, “President Duterte is a disciplinarian…for the love of this country and for Filipinos, Duterte has many good reasons why he is doing this. The simple reason is that he loves his own people and country. If not Duterte, who else can do it? Just remember, President Duterte is allowed only a single six-year term.”
That is the question of many Filipinos after Duterte’s term, who’ll be the next president who would take good care the Philippines? Remember, former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew ruled Singapore from 1959 to 1990, making him the longest-serving prime minister in world history.
President Duterte got only a single six-year term, even if the president is the brightest president in the world, it would be impossible to transform a third world country into a first country in the world as it would take a lot of years and big transformation from the Filipinos themselves who believe that change is possible.
Duterte’s first year as president, who scored a 78% approval rating — high, prevented the Philippines to become a narco-state, defended the democracy from the ISIS-linked militants who would destroy the country, implemented free tertiary education, created more jobs under President’s Duterte “Build Build Build” program, approved a P1,000-increase in the Social Security System (SSS) pension, signed an Executive Order for the Freedom of Information Order, and the Philippines as the 10th fastest growing economy globally.
The truth is, Duterte and Lee Kuan Yew may be entirely different from each other, but these selfless leaders made impossible things into possible just to fulfill its mission and its goals. Duterte as a leader did an excellent work by implementing programs and projects that will benefit the majority and those who need the help the most.
